COMME DES GARҪONS PUTS POLKA-DOT SPIN ON BATA TENNIS FOR HOLIDAY

For the Holiday 2014 season, Comme des Garçons has put a polka-dot spin on the iconic Bata Tennis shoe. Two versions of a black polka-dot print on white canvas will be available from early December exclusively at Comme des Garçons boutiques and Dover Street Market in London, New York and Tokyo, as well as I.T Beijing Market and colette in Paris. "We greatly admire authenticity, simplicity and tradition. Bata Tennis is the perfect epitome of these things”, says Adrian JOFFE, CEO Comme des Garçons International. “Basic perfect design, like the Bata tennis shoe, or the plain white shirt, is beautiful, and so when the opportunity arose for Comme des Garçons to do a special shoe for our flagship stores with Bata, we jumped at the chance.”

COMME DES GARҪONS AND BATA TENNIS AIM FOR THE STARS FOR HOLIDAY

Following the success of their Holiday 2014 collaboration, Comme des Garçons and Bata Tennis have joined forces again for the Holiday 2015 season. The iconic Bata Tennis sneaker in white canvas features graphic black and white stars on its upper level and around the back of the shoe, which contrasts the plain white front, rubber sole and toe-cap. The Comme des Garçons and Bata Tennis collaboration will be available from the end of November exclusively at Comme des Garçons boutiques and Dover Street Market in London, New York and Tokyo, as well as I.T Beijing Market and colette in Paris.

"We greatly admire authenticity, simplicity and tradition. Bata Tennis is the perfect epitome of these things”, says Adrian Joffe, CEO Comme des Garçons International. “Basic perfect design, like the Bata tennis shoe, or the plain white shirt, is beautiful, and so when the opportunity arose for Comme des Garçons to do a special shoe for our flagship stores with Bata, we jumped at the chance.” Charles Pignal, Head of Bata Tennis Heritage, adds: “I very much like Comme des Garçons’s philosophy of doing things that are completely different. It’s what makes the world move forward”.
